The pace of credit demand at mainstream lenders slowed to 12% in FY25 from 16% a year ago, reflecting the impact of regulatory curbs in sectors such as retail borrowing and unsecured exposures, the latest data on sectoral deployment of bank credit showed.Lending slowed across sectors including agriculture, infrastructure, retail and services. Loans to industry, however, remained flat during the year, showed the data published by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).An assessment of the state of the economy released in the RBI's latest monthly bulletin attributes the slowdown in credit to the base effect as well. In another move following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead, India closed its airspace to aircraft registered in Pakistan and those operated by Pakistani airlines. A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued on Wednesday confirmed that Indian airspace will remain shut for Pakistani aircrafts from May 1 to May 23.PTI reported citing an official that the ban will be enforced from 12 am on Thursday.ET had reported on Tuesday that India was considering the move after Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian carriers on April 24th in retaliation to New Delhi’s steps post-attack. New Delhi: Micro and small enterprises with up to 20 employees, across the manufacturing and services sectors, created the bulk of more than 20 million formal jobs under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in 2024-25 till February.The provisional payroll date of ESIC, seen by ET, showed 20.9 million new registrations in the April 2024-February 2025 period, against 22.1 million in the entire 2023-24.
